Green Woodworking

Turning on a Pole Lathe

Wood which is freshly cut or "green" can be easier to split, turn and carve. Green woodworking has been traditionally used to make baskets, hurdles, fencing and furniture and makes use of material from coppices.

DRST runs a range of courses teaching practical green woodworking techniques using tools such as shave horses, drawknives and pole lathes.
